What is medical rhinoplasty?

Medical rhinoplasty consists in modifying the shape of the nose without surgery by injecting a particularly cross-linked hyaluronic acid into the bony hollows. This eyelid & oculoplastic surgery technique can be used to refine the tip of the nose, raise it or remove a hump without the need for a clinic visit, and without the need for post-operative care.

Several filling products can be used. Dr Hayot, an oculoplastic surgeon, injects hyaluronic acid from Allergan™ Laboratories for its many qualities. Fully biodegradable and resorbable, Juvederm® hyaluronic acid causes neither allergies nor rejection.

In some cases, hyaluronic acid injections are combined with Botox Vistabel® injections to relax the activity of the myrtiforme muscle (the muscle that lowers the wing of the nose) located between the nostrils and the upper lip. Injection of botulinum toxin narrows the nostrils and enhances the overall shape of the nose.

There are also Botox injections to rework only the tip of the nose. This procedure raises the tip, which tends to droop when we speak or smile.

The Botox injection site is located between the muscle at the base of the nose and above the upper lip.
