Botox®

Botulinum toxin injections are the treatment of choice for the correction of expression lines. Dr Hayot has been performing Botox® injections for over 25 years.

The different areas for Botox injections

Botulinum toxin injections are commonly used to correct and soften expression lines such as frown lines, crow’s feet, nasolabial folds and perioral lines.

What is Botox®?

Botulinum toxin was originally used in ophthalmology to relieve patients suffering from blepharospasm, an involuntary contraction of the eyelid muscles. In fact, this molecule has an interesting property: it inhibits muscle mobility and activity.

Today, this property is used in aesthetic medicine to reduce facial expression lines, which are the result of repeated, involuntary muscle contractions. In particular, Botox® effectively corrects forehead wrinkles and crow’s feet (around the eyes), as well as lips, chin and neck wrinkles.

Why treat expression lines with Botox®?

Expression lines are among the first signs of aging. Indeed, the expressions we make most often throughout our lives eventually form visible breaks in our skin.

These wrinkles are known as dynamic wrinkles, because they are caused by muscular activity in the face. As we age, they are accentuated by skin slackening, and soon appear at rest.

As botulinum toxin relaxes muscular hyperaction, it is particularly indicated for the treatment of expression lines.

Contraindications to Botox® injection

Botulinum toxin injections are contraindicated in the following cases:

  • Pregnancy or breastfeeding
  • Neuromuscular pathologies
  • Anticoagulant treatment
  • Active infection or inflammation of the treated area
  • Intolerance or allergy to any of the product’s components

Botox® injections for wrinkles

Botulinum toxin is the treatment of choice for certain wrinkles, such as expression lines: horizontal forehead wrinkles, crow’s feet, frown lines and perioral wrinkles.

Botox® forehead injection

Highly visible, horizontal forehead wrinkles are a frequent reason for consultation in aesthetic medicine. To reduce the activity of the forehead muscle without freezing the patient’s face, Dr Hayot has developed the micro-botox technique, which involves injecting the product not into the muscle, but into the superficial layers of the skin. After your session, you’ll need to wait around 8 days to appreciate the optimal result.

Botox® jaw injection

Botulinum toxin can also be used to correct an excessively square jaw. This request often comes from women who have a complex about a thick masseter, which gives their face a masculine look. Injections are then made into this muscle to reduce its prominence and refine the angle of the jaw.

Botox frown lines

Frown lines, located between the eyebrows, age the face and give it a severe appearance. Injecting botulinum toxin into this area of the face softens the expression by reducing muscle contractions, giving the face a much-appreciated youthful look.

After-effects of Botox® facial injections

After Botox® injections, some transient side effects may occur. These are mainly redness, ecchymosis (“bruising”) at the injection sites, and sometimes slight edema (swelling). These symptoms are nothing to worry about: they disappear within a few hours, or a few days at most.

Botox® post-injection results

Injection of botulinum toxin produces excellent results for the treatment of expression lines. Dr Hayot always ensures that the result obtained is natural and harmonious, avoiding over-correction.

Results are stable approximately 6 months after the 1st session. After this time, if the patient feels the need, further injections can be performed.
