What is acne?

A chronic condition that affects the pilosebaceous follicles, acne causes pores to become blocked, leading to the formation of blackheads (open comedones) or microcysts( closedcomedones ). These microcysts can become infected and transform into papules, pustules or nodules.

Different levels of acne severity can be found.

What are the factors involved in the appearance of acne?

In most cases, acne begins in adolescence, as a result of various hormonal changes. The face, neck and back are the areas most frequently affected by acne.

Genetics play a role in the development of acne.

Certain hormonal changes, exposure to stress and an unbalanced diet are all factors that favor acne.

Why does acne leave scars?

When inflammation is severe, nodules appear that are particularly deep-rooted in the skin. These nodules can develop into abscesses or cysts, leading to scarring.

At first, scars are red. If they persist or are manipulated, these scars can give the skin a “grainy” or perforated appearance.

These lesions severely impair quality of life.

Fraxel laser for acne scars
