Acne scars

A chronic pathology, acne is very often the cause of significant psychological repercussions. Acne scars have a profound impact on quality of life, particularly for adults. These scars tend to be located on the cheeks and temples, and thus impact facial harmony.
Today, thanks to innovations in aesthetic medicine, it is possible to get rid of acne scars.

What is acne?

A chronic condition that affects the pilosebaceous follicles, acne causes pores to become blocked, leading to the formation of blackheads (open comedones) or microcysts( closedcomedones ). These microcysts can become infected and transform into papules, pustules or nodules.

Different levels of acne severity can be found.

What are the factors involved in the appearance of acne?

In most cases, acne begins in adolescence, as a result of various hormonal changes. The face, neck and back are the areas most frequently affected by acne.

Genetics play a role in the development of acne.

Certain hormonal changes, exposure to stress and an unbalanced diet are all factors that favor acne.

Why does acne leave scars?

When inflammation is severe, nodules appear that are particularly deep-rooted in the skin. These nodules can develop into abscesses or cysts, leading to scarring.

At first, scars are red. If they persist or are manipulated, these scars can give the skin a “grainy” or perforated appearance.

These lesions severely impair quality of life.

Fraxel laser for acne scars

Dr Hayot works with the Fraxel non-ablative fractional laser. This is the treatment of choice for reducing acne scars and healing skin damaged by severe scarring. Damaged skin is heated and collagen production is intensively stimulated. Natural healing is triggered.

During an initial consultation with Dr. Hayot, your needs are identified and a therapeutic plan is drawn up.

Depending on the diagnosis, your practitioner will work with you to determine the protocol required. The number of Fraxel laser sessions depends on the severity of the scars and the particularities of each patient.

Fraxel laser treatment is intended for scarring lesions, not progressive acne.
