What is lipofilling?
Lipofilling involves taking fat directly from the patient’s body, usually from fleshy areas, and reinjecting it into other parts of the body to reshape its volume. This is known as autologous fat grafting. The fat removed is processed before injection. Lipofilling can be used to reshape the body (breasts, buttocks), but also the face (wrinkles, dark circles, cheekbones, cheeks).
When can I see the final result after surgery?
Results after fat injections are progressive. While appreciable rapidly after the procedure, it is optimized over time, as the re-injected fat tends to reactivate collagen production and optimize skin hydration. This is due to the stem cells and growth factors induced by the stromal vascular fraction and contained in autologous fat. In the case of volumizing lipofilling, the final result can be observed after one month. After 3 to 6 months, the effects rebound, with an improvement in skin texture and quality.
Whichever technique you choose, the face is plumped up, skin texture is improved, the look is less severe and volumes are better filled out. The hollows of dark circles are truly reduced. The result is perfectly natural.
Would another fat injection be advisable?
Facial lipofilling offers definitive results, as it is a genuine fat cell graft. After injection, the fat cells are incorporated into the tissues and remain there permanently.
However, reinjected fat does not prevent skin aging, and is sensitive to weight variations. Skin aging cannot be stopped permanently.
It can evolve over time in the same way as other parts of the face and body. Thus, newly-injected fat cells follow the evolution of the face, and volumes may once again deepen over the years or after slimming, or increase in volume after weight gain.
If I lose weight
Subsequent fat injections can be performed after weight loss. However, the amount of fat present on the patient’s body must be sufficient to allow it to be removed and injected.
If I get fat
Volumes are not hollowed out, and wrinkles and hollows are less of a problem. The need for further fat injections is minimal. Volumes reconstructed before weight gain evolve in line with the rest of the body.
