What are botox injections in aesthetic medicine?
Botulinum toxin is a neurotoxin that occurs naturally in the body. It was originally used mainly in ophthalmology to calm involuntary contractions of eyelid muscles.
Today, botox is mainly used in injections to correct facial expression lines, the first signs of the passage of time. These wrinkles are the result of repeated muscular contractions of the face. Botulinum toxin inhibits muscle mobility and activity by blocking the neuromediator. The muscle no longer receives a signal and relaxes.
Botox injections are particularly effective in reducing or eliminating these dynamic wrinkles and correcting defects linked to muscle contraction.
On the forehead
To correct horizontal forehead wrinkles, the product is injected into the superficial layers of the skin (not the muscle). This technique, known as micro-botox, delivers particularly natural results.
Jaw area
To correct a square jaw, botox injections are performed on the masseter muscle. The size of the masseter muscle is reduced, thus refining the jaw angle.
Between the eyebrows
Frown lines can be easily reduced with botulinum toxin injections. Muscle contractions are reduced.
Botox injections have become an indispensable part of anti-aging medicine. They can also be used to treat crow’s feet, wrinkles around the mouth, chin wrinkles and neck cords. They can also be used to correct poor facial symmetry, hypersudation, a square jaw and bruxism.
Botox injections usually take place in the doctor’s surgery. Botox has the advantage of requiring no anaesthetic, and resorbs naturally after a few months.
Why might your aesthetic doctor recommend botox?
Botox is primarily indicated to treat dynamic wrinkles (expression lines). It rejuvenates the face effortlessly and without surgery. There are many advantages to this product:
- Botox is a particularly simple solution: injections are performed without anaesthetic and take just ten minutes. The procedure is painless and leaves no scars.
- The first result is immediate: just a few minutes after injection, facial muscles relax. You then need to wait around 5 days to observe the product’s optimal results.
- A cure for youth… and confidence: Rejuvenating the face so easily has a clear impact on the well-being of patients, who feel better about their bodies.
- Non-permanent results: after a few months, botox resorbs naturally.
Are the results of botox injections definitive?
The results of botox injections are not definitive. They are stable for approximately 4 to 6 months after the first injection session, before the product gradually resorbs. New injections are required to maintain optimal results. After the second injection session, results last longer: 6 to 8 months.
Dr Hayot always proposes the most natural and harmonious result possible.
