How lipofilling works and its applications

Lipofilling, a cutting-edge aesthetic technique

Skin aging is a multifactorial process, particularly linked to a reduction in skin thickness, a decrease in collagen and elastin production, and a reduction in hyaluronic acid naturally present in the body. Various cosmetic surgery techniques can be used to treat and prevent this aging of the skin.

A real breakthrough in aesthetics, lipofilling responds, for example, to a sign of ageing long ignored by specialists: the loss of fat volume. Different terms can be used to describe it: lipostructure or autologous fat transfer (from the patient).
The advantage of lipofilling is that no foreign bodies are used, since the patient’s own fat is used. There is therefore no risk of allergy or rejection.

Lipofilling: how does it work?

Lipofilling is performed in several stages.

Step 1: Liposuction

The first stage of lipostructure involves liposuction of excess fat from the patient’s body (hips, thighs, knees, etc.).

Step 2: purifying the fat removed

Once the grease has been removed, it is rinsed and cleaned on a filter, then manually defibrosed and broken down to become ultra-fluid. This step is essential to achieve the best possible results.

Step 3: Fat transfer

The third step is to transfer the fat using microcannulas into the target tissues. Dr. Hayot uses a proprietary method to correctly distribute the volume and ensure good vascularization of the added fat.

The different applications of lipostructure

While lipofilling can be applied to many parts of the body (breasts, buttocks…) for both repair and aesthetic purposes, Dr Hayot specializes in facial lipofilling and eyelid microlipofilling (addition blepharoplasty). He provides tailor-made lipofilling, adapted to the indications of each of his patients.

Volumizing lipofilling

Volumizing lipofilling involves adding fat from the patient’s own body to restore facial volumes that have melted with age (dark circles, temples, cheeks, cheekbones, etc.). This type of lipofilling is mostly performed as part of an oval and neck lift or eyelid surgery (addition blepharoplasty).

Fat is removed from the patient’s abdomen, knee or thighs using a liposuction cannula. It is then filtered and defibrosed to retain only the finest, highest-quality adipocytes.

Anti-wrinkle fat injections

Anti-wrinkle lipofilling is performed in nasolabial folds, wrinkles around the mouth or crow’s feet. Fat is injected very thinly and superficially to fill wrinkles effectively, discreetly and naturally.

As with the previous method, a small quantity of fat is removed using a microcannula from an area where the fat is dense and of good quality, such as the abdomen or the inside of the knee. It is then purified before being reinjected into the pre-defined areas.

Nano lipofilling

Nano-lipofilling, also known as “nano-lipostructure”, is an innovative surgical method based on the injection of stem cells and growth factors into the dermis. More than just an aesthetic effect, these cells can help regenerate ageing tissues, and thus sustainably improve skin texture, quality and radiance.

Technically, nano-lipofilling is similar to mesotherapy, except that no synthetic product is introduced into the patient’s body.
