What is a blepharoplasty in cosmetic surgery?
Blepharoplasty is facial surgery, also known as eyelid surgery or eye surgery. It involves correcting excess skin or fat on the upper or lower eyelids.
The eyes are the first area of the face to be affected by skin aging. Blepharoplasty treats all the aesthetic problems associated with this area. In particular, it can correct :
- Problems with drooping eyelids.
- Bags under the eyes
- Dark circles and tinted circles
- Sagging or wrinkled appearance of the lower eyelid
- Drooping eyebrow tails
- Crow’s feet and brow lines
Depending on the indication to be treated, there are several types of blepharoplasty.
Addition blepharoplasty
It enables all four upper and lower eyelids to be treated at the same time. This procedure is perfectly suited to the ageing process of the eyelids, and effectively treats sagging eyelids. It involves injecting fat into the missing volumes (fat melting).
Lipofilling
Also known as micro-lipofilling or micro-lipostructure, lipofilling involves rejuvenating the upper eyelid by correcting a slight excess of skin on a hollow eye. The technique fills in areas of the face lacking volume by injecting fat from the patient’s own body.
Nano-lipofilling
Also known as nano-lipostructure, nano-lipofilling takes fat from the patient and extracts stem cells and growth factors. This extraction promotes vascularization of the cells subsequently grafted, and stimulates collagen production. The procedure is particularly indicated for masking dark circles.
Pocket removal
This procedure is performed transconjunctivally: the incision is made inside the lower eyelid. The bags are then removed. Scars are not visible.
Pinch blepharoplasty
This lower eyelid surgery corrects the wrinkled, wrinkled appearance of the lower eyelids. Excess skin is removed without detaching the subcutaneous tissues or affecting the surrounding nerves and muscles. The scar is virtually invisible.
Who needs eyelid surgery?
Blepharoplasty is one of the most popular rejuvenation procedures. It is generally performed around the age of 35-40. However, the decision to undergo blepharoplasty is a personal one. Anyone who feels self-conscious about the appearance of their eyes can benefit from eyelid surgery. In all cases, the procedure helps to reduce the signs of aging and restore a more youthful look.
Is blepharoplasty reversible?
Blepharoplasty is a non-reversible “one-shot” surgery. Only lipostructure is not permanent. The operation must be repeated after about ten years. Other blepharoplasty procedures should never be repeated. That’s why it’s important to consult an experienced surgeon who has mastered all the techniques in the field, and who is constantly updating his or her knowledge.
