Eye rejuvenation with fat
Ageing affects the area around the eyes in a number of ways. Fat gradually moves downwards and the skin loses elasticity: dark circles deepen, eyelids sag, and wrinkles become more pronounced, whether crow’s feet, frown lines or horizontal forehead wrinkles. All these signs of ageing can now be effectively treated with fat injections.
How does fat help to rejuvenate the eyes?
Eye rejuvenation using fat is based on restoring the volume lost around the eyes with age. That loss of volume contributes to an aged, tired appearance, marked by hollow dark circles, sagging upper eyelids and thinner skin. Here is how fat works in this context:
- Restoring volume: with age, the loss of volume in the upper and lower eyelids can create a hollowed look. A fat injection can restore volume to these areas and contribute to a more youthful, rested appearance.
- The advantages of fat: as a natural material taken from the patient themselves, an autograft, fat is generally well tolerated, with little risk of allergic reaction or rejection. Unlike other fillers, the results of fat injections can be longer-lasting, as some of the grafted fat cells become durably integrated.
- Limiting complications: treatment with fat avoids the use of hyaluronic acid in certain areas. Hyaluronic acid, although effective for filling many areas of the face, can lead to complications around the eyes, such as the Tyndall effect, a bluish tint under the skin, or excessive swelling, because the skin in this area is thin and sensitive.
- Specific treatment of dark circles : for hollow dark circles, micro-lipostructure involves injecting very small amounts of fat to fill the hollows under the eyes, giving a fuller, more youthful appearance. For pigmented dark circles, an injection of nanofat, a processed form of fat rich in growth factors, can help regenerate the skin of the lower eyelid, reducing pigmentation and improving the texture of the skin.
- Skin regeneration: injected fat, particularly in nanofat form, can promote skin regeneration thanks to its wealth of stem cells and growth factors, improving the quality of the skin around the eyes as well as restoring volume.
The results of eye rejuvenation with fat
Eye rejuvenation by fat injection is an advanced technique that requires particular expertise. It offers a long-lasting, natural way to counter the signs of ageing around the eyes while minimising the risks of complication associated with other fillers. The treatment not only replaces lost volume but also improves the quality of the skin, which makes the approach doubly beneficial for rejuvenating the eyes.
