Addition blepharoplasty & Aesthetic surgery of the upper eyelid

An oculoplastic surgeon, Doctor Hayot specialises in upper blepharoplasty and provides a solution suited to every gaze and every wish.

Upper blepharoplasty is an eyelid surgery technique that makes it possible to correct the imperfections of the upper eyelids caused by age and by the ageing of the skin and of the face, and to remove the excess skin and fat (fatty bags) found there.

Why undergo an addition blepharoplasty?

Addition blepharoplasty is a surgical procedure intended for patients wishing to improve the appearance of their eyelids while preserving a natural and harmonious result.

Thanks to a precise technique based on lipofilling, it makes it possible to restore lost volumes and to attenuate the signs of ageing at the level of the upper and lower eyelids.

Dr Hayot devises a bespoke treatment to answer the specific needs of each patient.

Correcting hollow eyes and the tired appearance

With age, skin ageing leads to a loss of volume at the level of the upper eyelids, giving the gaze a tired and hollowed appearance. Addition blepharoplasty uses the lipofilling technique to inject autologous fat into the hollow areas. This procedure restores a luminous appearance, instantly rejuvenating the face and reducing the visible signs of time.

Treating deep dark circles and bags

Deep dark circles and fatty bags under the eyes are frequent concerns. These areas can accentuate a tired look and mark the face, even in young patients.

By filling the dark circles with a volumising treatment and rebalancing the tissues, addition surgery offers lasting results. The surgeon adapts the quantity of fat injected for a natural rendering, without excess.

Restoring a natural volume of the upper eyelids

A hollowed or thinned upper eyelid can alter the harmony of the gaze, giving an impression of fatigue or severity. Addition blepharoplasty, performed by Dr Hayot, aims to restore the volumes and to firm this area, taking account of the particularities of each patient.

This treatment helps to rejuvenate the gaze while preserving a natural expression. Combined with other techniques such as a lift or a classic blepharoplasty, it can correct more complex problems.

The results of an addition blepharoplasty with Dr Hayot

Addition blepharoplasty is an effective surgical procedure for correcting the effects of ageing at the level of the eyelids and restoring a fresh and balanced gaze. Unlike cosmetic solutions such as creams, this surgery offers visible and lasting results. By filling the lost volumes thanks to lipofilling, the operation restores a natural appearance to the eyes and to the face.

After the operation, a post-operative recovery period, with oedema and bruising, is to be expected. These signs fade within one to two weeks. Once this phase has passed, the gaze regains all its freshness, with completely concealed scars. This technique makes it possible to treat both the upper and lower eyelids, correcting the excesses of skin or fat while restoring the missing volumes.

Each patient receives a personalised treatment adapted to their needs, making it possible to obtain an immediate rejuvenating effect and a natural balance for the face as a whole. Thanks to Dr Hayot’s expertise, the results are perfectly harmonious.

Addition blepharoplasty offers targeted and effective solutions to rejuvenate the face and correct imperfections at the level of the eyelids. Here are the principal advantages of this aesthetic surgery performed by Dr Hayot:

Targeted correction of the bags and of the excess skin

This aesthetic surgery effectively treats the bags and the excess skin on the upper and lower eyelids, which makes it possible to restore a more rested and youthful gaze.

Discreet and concealed scars

The incisions are made in the natural folds of the eyelids, which makes it possible to conceal the scars after the procedure and to obtain a perfectly natural result.

The procedure makes it possible to rejuvenate the gaze by restoring volume and correcting the visible signs of ageing, with an effect visible on the face as a whole.

Quick recovery and lasting results

After the surgery, the post-operative recovery period is relatively short, allowing the patient to return quickly to daily life while benefiting from lasting results that improve the appearance of the eyelids over the long term.

The course of an addition blepharoplasty with Dr Hayot

Addition blepharoplasty is a meticulous surgical procedure aimed at rejuvenating the gaze and restoring the volume of the eyelids. Before proceeding with this procedure, an in-depth consultation is necessary.

During this first meeting, Dr Hayot examines the patient’s face and eyelids in order to determine the precise indications and to devise a personalised treatment, taking account of the expectations and needs of each individual.

Advice before the operation

The surgeon advises you to follow a few essential recommendations before the operation, such as avoiding the consumption of alcohol and tobacco for at least one month before the procedure in order to favour better healing and to avoid any complication.

The taking of certain medicines, such as anticoagulants or anti-inflammatories, will also have to be limited, as they may interfere with healing and increase the risks of bleeding.

The course of the procedure

Once these preparatory stages have been completed, the operation can begin. Carried out under local or general anaesthesia, this surgery generally lasts between one hour and one hour and a half depending on the needs of the patient.

Dr Hayot uses a lipofilling technique if necessary to restore the lost volume, notably in the area of the lower and upper eyelids. This procedure makes it possible to obtain a natural and harmonious result by correcting the bags and reducing the appearance of the dark circles.

The post-operative course varies from one patient to another, but oedema and bruising are frequent and generally disappear after 10 to 15 days. Iced compresses are recommended during the first 48 hours in order to reduce the appearance of oedema. In addition, eye drops may be prescribed to soothe the eye and to avoid ocular dryness.

It is also advised to rest and to avoid any exposure to the sun during the first weeks following the operation.

What is the price of a blepharoplasty with Dr Hayot?

The price of a blepharoplasty depends on several factors. The price depends notably on the area treated (upper or lower eyelid), on the needs of the patient, and on the technique used (such as lipofilling to restore the volume of the eyelids).

It is recommended to contact our practice for an initial consultation in order to obtain a personalised estimate with the detailed price according to your procedure.

What are the different types of blepharoplasty and how do they differ?

There are several types of blepharoplasty, each suited to different needs.

Upper blepharoplasty aims to remove the excess skin and fat at the level of the upper eyelids.

Lower blepharoplasty corrects the bags under the eyes, often caused by the sagging of the skin.

Addition blepharoplasty combines these techniques for a rejuvenated gaze by adding volume where it is needed, for example by lipofilling.

Lastly, pinch blepharoplasty is a more targeted technique which consists in removing a small quantity of excess skin without requiring large incisions.

Each type of blepharoplasty answers precise indications, according to the age and the characteristics of the patient.

What the studies say

A few figures published in peer-reviewed journals, chosen to give orders of magnitude. They do not describe your case: only the consultation does.

  1. In a retrospective series of 278 patients of mean age 67 years operated on with an upper blepharoplasty (533 eyelids, mean follow-up 8 months, associated brow lift in one third of cases), the rate of surgical revision was 3.8% in the absence of an associated ptosis correction and 9.2% when a ptosis correction was associated. New ocular dryness persisting for three months or more was observed in 0.8% of cases, and it resolved in all the patients concerned.

  2. Laxity of the upper eyelids is common with age: in a population cohort of 5,578 adults (mean age 67 years), 17.8% presented with moderate or severe dermatochalasis. Besides age, this study finds male sex, a high body mass index and a fair complexion among the associated factors.

  3. The preoperative indicators associated with a functional benefit of upper eyelid surgery were set out by a report of the American Academy of Ophthalmology based on 13 studies: a margin-reflex distance less than or equal to 2 mm, a loss of superior visual field of at least 12 degrees or 24%, difficulty in near vision, a head posture in extension, or difficulty reported by the patient.
