Nano-lipofilling: fat injection
Nano-lipofilling is already giving results on skin quality, wrinkles and skin blemishes. It is also one of the effective treatments for masking the discolouration of dark circles.
What is nano-lipofilling?
Stem cells and growth factors are extracted and injected into the surface of the face. The fat is processed in the same way as for conventional lipofilling: it is filtered, defibrosed and broken down until it is highly fluid
This is genuinely regenerative medicine, not simply a new aesthetic method.
Technically, nano-lipofilling is similar to mesotherapy (injections into the superficial dermis), with one major difference: no foreign body or synthetic product is introduced into the patient’s body.
We have known for some years that lipofilling applied to the face does more than restore volume. The texture and the quality of the skin improve over the months. This positive effect is linked to the presence of stem cells and growth factors in the fat. That observation gave rise to regenerative medicine, which Dr Hayot sees as a major turning point in twenty-first-century aesthetic surgery.
Indications for nano-lipofilling in eye surgery
Dark circles are caused by a thinning of the skin, which lets the blood vessels of the orbicularis muscle show through. Nano-lipofilling thickens the dermis and removes this transparency.
Dr Hayot strongly advises against injecting hyaluronic acid into the dark circles, as the results are unsatisfactory. Contrary to popular belief, hyaluronic acid does not resorb when placed in the dark circles: it swells and can cause bags to form.
Procedure for nano-lipofilling with Dr Hayot
- Obtain the prescribed medication in advance.
- Stop taking anticoagulants and anti-inflammatory drugs.
- Make an appointment with the anaesthetist to confirm that
- the procedure is not contraindicated. A blood test should be carried out.
- Fast for 8 hours before the procedure.
Nano-lipofilling is performed as a day case and lasts about an hour, usually under local anaesthetic.
Fat is removed from the abdomen, the thighs or the inner knees with a cannula. It is rinsed, cleaned, defibrosed and filtered. The resulting compound is then injected into the eyelids, so that the skin tissue can gradually regenerate.
Nano-lipofilling results
The skin of the eyelids is gradually restored. It thickens and tightens as dark circles and wrinkles fade. An annual maintenance session may be recommended.
Side effects of nano-lipofilling
Side effects are very rare. As this technique is a recent innovation, it is very important to consult a trained, competent surgeon with the appropriate equipment.
